Late night storm

The seas were dancing Tango last night,
Vamp performers trumpetting wind in the rigging,
A black and white movie montage.
The wee cockapoo wimpering-barking me awake,
Lingering traces of violent dreams, black, grim, goulish.
Fear is evil, the only evil, the depth of evil,
And I was evil in the wee hours,
Frightened more by inside than outside.
70 by 70 turns of a cheek,
Then some for good measure.
Bonhoffer, the Nazi's and church betrayal.
The Tibetan Buddhists fire bolt action rifles
At communist Chinese machine gun souls,
And the Dalai Lama flees to talk.
Eva Brawn and Marie Antoinette hostess
In the brothels of the state:
Politics makes strange bedfellows.

The dog leaped for the safety of the dock
Ran along the oily surface,
Loyally looking back to see if I had followed,
Stopped, disheartened, returned, dutiful as I am.
The rain poured rancid with industrial waste.
No safe harbour save death.
Zombies in the country,
And soul sucking vampires
Riding the bike lanes first class.
