Confused and Disappointed by Canadian election 2019

“Steal a little and they put you in jail, steal a lot and they make you king.”

I am deeply disappointed by the election.  PM Trudeau represents everything I utterly abhor.

These are a short list of the more reprehensible behaviours he has done:

1. Paid a terrorist 10 million dollars after that terrorist murdered an American soldier hero who had children and saved the lives of children.

2. Paid other terrorists millions of dollars

3. Destroyed freedom of speech in Canada by introducing laws like M103 which make it’ hate speech’ to criticize Muslim groups like ISIS

4 Said his father was right to use his political influence to get his brother off a dope possession charge, Pierre Trudeau talked to the Attorney General to keep his son out of jail. My friend caught with a joint went to jail was gang raped, tried to escape, was raped by a guard, tried to escape, spent 7 years in jail, came out a gang member and last I heard had murdered people, all because the children of the PM don’t share the same experience as the rest of us so there are two realities.  The world of the elite and the rest of us.  It’s one thing to not talk about it but it’s another thing to essential ‘brag’ about it as Justin Trudeau did.

4. He molested a 17 year old girl at school and we hear about it through the American newspapers because he bought the Canadian Press so we no longer have Freedom of Press.  He raged in Parliament hitting a woman and claimed to be a ‘feminist’. He then fired his leading woman when she disagreed with his criminal behaviour.  

5. He beat up an aboriginal in a mock fight then beat up the leading political female in public all the while he claimed to support women and aboriginal rights, both of who are worse off today than they were before his reign.

6. He celebrated the rule of dictators singing the praises of the murdering Communist Chinese and the murdering Communist Cubans.

7. He’s the greatest hypocrite I have ever known.

8. He’s proclaimed his marital infidelities to the world. There are countless pictures of him looking at the breasts of women he is talking to, the most egregious one, being of him ogling Ivanka’s breasts, sitting beside her father.  

9.  He is a shill for One World Government under the combined UN Sharia Law organization, communists and dictators.  

10. He promotes the fallacy that the world is dying and climate change will be catastrophic in 10 years when there is no reason to believe that the changes will be catastrophic in a thousand years. 

11. He’s actually very stupid.  He wears a prompter in parliament and on other major occasions leaving us to all wonder who is he the mouth piece for. Is George Soros or Xi Ling actually telling him what words to parrot. Whenever he is speaking off the cuff he sounds miserably impaired and it doesn’t matter if you put a chalk board with a bunch of equations behind him he has repeatedly demonstrated that on occasion he can’t hold spit in his mouth.  So the idea of affirmative action seems appalling in the PM office.

12. He is so utterly anti Christian and so openly pro muslim.

13. His favouritism is always a divide and conquer tactic

His preference for Quebec and his constant support of the corrupt mafia and biker gangs and dirty corporations in Quebec is deeply disturbing since he is so abusive and disgusting towards Western Canada. If I lived in Quebec and had all the priviledges that the elite province Quebec has given it’s colonial rule of Western Canada and the rape of the resources I’d accept that I was a pig but the gaslighting of the ‘poor Quebec’, we are the victims, is just too painful. Western Canada is a slave to Eastern Canada.  The problem is the attitude of hypocricy and the promise of electoral reform but the refusal of these bullies to do anything but economically rape and pillage all the while acting like they are some kind of ‘good’ people.

15. He’s stoned. He and his family were doing dope illegally and I like many others stopped because we thought it was wrong, ethically and morally to break the law and support criminal institutions. By contrasted he has never apologized or made amends or in anyway accepted the vast damage he has done to so many. As an example he is a principle cause in the epidemic of death by fentanyl.  ‘The PM does drugs. He broke the law. Soon Fentanyl will be legal and everything will be okay. Fentanyl today is just like Marijuana in his day.  Maybe I’ll be PM one day. Doctors like you who don’t do drugs are losers. You should be like Justin Trudeau. He’s a rock star and you should like my mother.”   I hear this every day I go to work and ask a child to stop doing drugs to save his life. And he makes my life of doing medicine look ludicrous.

60% of Canadians believe in this liar, cheat, promise breaker, druggie, womanizer, hypocrite, elite unethical playboy.  

I feel like I’m in a scene of Black Mirror some variation of One Flew Over the Cuckoos nest or Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I feel I’m the last Boy Scout and pray like millions prayed when the Communists and Fascists took over their countries because of mass marketting, denial of freedom of speech and denial of freedom of press. All dictatorships and communist take overs have begun with mass disarmament of the citizens and punishment of law abiding citizens.  So I’m not a little afraid looking at the future of more taxation, black marketeer ing, lies, destruction of the middle classes, and all of what I’ve seen transpiring.  The Canada, land of the free, is gone.  

I am disappointed.  The good news is that the majority of people who live in Western Canada are like me deeply disappointed by the craven perversion of Ottawa today with its swaggering priviledge, deceit, abuse and economic rape of the country forcing indentednesss on the children and grandchildren of the nation for decades to come.  

I don’t know where to live.  Those who fleed their countries claiming they wanted Canada have taken CAnada back to the dark ages. To them this country is ‘free’ compared to those countries they fleed. They said they didn’t like the corruption of their countries especially in the Middle East and Central America but here for their own sake they have supported the greatest corruption Canada has ever known.

I’m disappointed. I’d love to go to some place where Canada is, not was. 

Language Terrorists, Jihadists and Christanophobes.

Win the “war of words” and you win the war!
Christians have been collectively criticized because of the one church, Westboro Baptists.  Jews are condemned because of extremist Zionists.   Catholics have been collectively criticized because of the Pope’s statements.
But criticize ISIS and you are called “ISLAMAPHOBE”.
CHRISTOPHOBIA is almost universal today.  All over the world Christians are persecuted.  Christians are the most persecuted people in the world.  The Left dominated media ignores deaths of Christians.
Yet when Christians object to ISIS killing Christians, what do we hear.  “ISIS is killing Muslims too”.  Two wrongs don’t make it right.  Yet the real issue is that CHRISTIANS DESERVE TO BE KILLED. That's the message between the lines.  CHRISTIANS Don't COUNT.
The Radical Left are the Mainstream now.  They “Control’ the language.  If you are moderate, they call you “Radical Right”.  The Language Terrorists have attacked the language.
Only the LEFT can speak for the Oppressed.  Yet the LEFT is the greatest oppressor of all time. Communist Atheists killed 60 million in Russia.  Chinese Communist Atheists killed 100 million.
ISIS actually says they represent the MOSLEM JIHAD but when a Christian says , “Christian Crusaders will stop your invasion just like they stopped your invasion of Spain,  France and Venice and Jerusalem, Christians are called Islamaphobes.  The Hindus and Siks had to put a stop to the Moslems because the Moslem Jihad there killed hundreds of thousands.  No one dares call a Sik an Islamophobe. Siks are always armed.  The LEFT wants CHRISTIANS disarmed.
If you called yourself a Christian Crusader, and looked with pride on your Christian forefathers protecting Europe from the Oppressive Moslem invaders, the Radical LEFT (Mainstream media) would call you are ‘worse than a jihadist’. The LEFT has rewritten history.
Israel defends itself from recurrent attack by Moslem nations and now Israelis are the OPPRESSOR.
It was the Moslems that were expanding in the day of the Crusades.   The Caliphate, titular head of the Moslem people, is given to the leader who ‘expands" the physical geographical territory of Moslem religion.  The Rampaging Pillaging Monstrous Army that swept through countries like India who the were the MOSLEMS the CRUSADERS Fought was a forced army of conscripts and slaves. The CRUSADES were a VOLUNTEER army. You would never know such things if you didn't read history which is repeating.
ISIS claim to be the new Caliphate because there is a prophecy that the greatest Jihad will begin in Raqqa.  Crusaders were the ‘defenders’.  The last Caliphate was Turkish.
The Turkish empire was one of the largest land mass empires of all time.
Constantine is no longer called Constantine after the Christian leader who made the Roman Empire Christian.  Constantine the Christian created the Christian seat of the Orthodox Church which was invaded by the Jihadist Moslems and became Istanbul after 800 years being Christian.  It’s still Istanbul. That's because of MOSLEM Conquest.
Communists are “oppressed", they say.   Moslems and especially Palestinians are  “oppressed” but Christians and especially Americans and Jews especially Israelis are, according to the LANGUAGE TERRORISTS, the ‘oppressors’.
It doesn’t matter that America is a secular state as is Turkey, now.    ISIS calls the ‘response’ to their ‘attacks’ ‘Crusades”.  And western Leftist media uses the language of the enemy.
Post Vietnam the review of the Vietnam War showed by the report of the North Vietnamese generals and Viet Cong that America had militarily won the war because the North was virtually about to collapse. However the Americans pulled out because the Leftist Media and the likes of Hanoi Jane Fonda lost the war by fraudulently convincing America was losing the war.
WWII would have been similarly lost if the “War of Words” wasn’t recognized.  “Loose Lips Sink Ships” .
Freedom of information is what we have to offer the world.  MOSLEM dominated countries collectively deny Freedom of Speech.  In large swaths of Moslem territory Christians are as restricted as they are in Communist Atheist countries where freedom of speech is simply not allowed.  The MOSLEM ISIS are teaching their children JIHAD.  Yet in the west I can go into any library and read a Koran and even read the writings of ISIS.
There are two worlds here.  The world of “freedom of speech’ where the ‘language police of the LEFT” are raging a war or the very words of freedom and the world of “oppression of free speech” .
A frightening statistic that has arisen is that 90% of academics are LEFT leaning.  It turns out a very high proportion of IMANS are radical.

The politically correct sound so nice but the first thing to go in war is ’truth’ and the LEFT doesn’t believe in ’TRUTH”.  So it never cares if Truth is a casuality.
Now the interesting coalition in Europe is the Radical Left allying with the Moslem Jihadists and ironically this is being joined by the Fascists.  They look so different on first glance but the Radical LEFT wants war. MARX said all war is good.  WAR is necessary to the Left.  They believe that if there is enough war then they will accept Dictatorship. This is what Lenin succeeded in doing. The LEFT Always promotes war directly or indierectly because War is the Means to the Marxist/Lenin end.  The Moslems in major areas of Europe claim be ‘oppressed’.  They come from countries where there was no freedom of speech. They are commonly without competitive skills and many ghettorize so they don’t assimilate and learn the language and skills useful outside their religiofanatic countries of origin.   Now the FASCIST ironically are growing because the RADICAL LEFT won’t listen to the majority of people but rather push their ideologies causing the centre to shift to the right.
Here in Canada petitions of hundreds of thousands ask Trudeau the new Prime Minister to go slow with the refugee relocation but so far as a radical leftist Christanophobe, Trudeau like his autocratic dictatorial father, doesn’t listen to advise, but pushes his own agenda uncaring of the voice of Canada.    The terrorist attacks in Paris have woken up Canadians who so quickly forget 9/11 and that jihadists attacked their soldiers and parliament.  The RADICAL LEFT doesn't even want the word "terrorist' to be used in Canada.   With such extremism in power the moderate middle is pushed to the right.
That’s what’s happening around the world with the rise of the defensive right wing shift.
Radical Right Germany, Hitler and the Nazis, actually made a PACT with the the Radical Left, Stalin and the Communists.  The Left and Right hate the Middle. You are either for us or agin us the extremists of Right and Left say with Governments, Media and Courts and Prisons to back them up.
Historically the Old Testament (Torah) and the Koran are ‘TRIBAL” texts which are filled with war and killing and chiefs and glory.
The New Testament or GOSPEL is the CHRISTIAN “BOOK”.  GOSPEL means "GOOD NEWS". The only story it tells is of the killing of Jesus and the killing of Christians and the peaceful living of Christians who share the story of LOVE and Salvation.  Rather than come as a Rich Man like Abraham, the prophet of Israel or the Warrior Mohammed, Jesus comes as a baby.  The Christian story is the story of true ‘oppressed’.  WE are the persecuted.

Yet the CHRISTIAN Crusaders stopped the MOSLEM JIHAD.  Perhaps we could as moderates win the war on wards by the language terrorists and restore the light.

Refugee Warrior Army - The Free Syrian Force.

No one has suggested the obvious solution to the present problem of ISIS invasion.  ISIS is equivalent to the Hell’s Angels.  To put it in perspective the Hell’s Angels ride into your home town,  kill, main and pillage and people flee.  The reason the Hell’s Angels are able to do this is simply better training, superior weaponry and bad attitude.
There are two parts to the Syrian crisis.  The Syrian government leader, supported by Russia and clearly a tyrant caused a civil war.   This happened over and over again when other Satellites of Russian rebelled against Communist Atheist Dictatorships.  Eventually the people rose up and won. Communism died as a state and Russia went back to being a Christian nation.  The  civil war in Syria failed.  Moslems fought moslems.  Canada can't fight Russia and American and China aren't going to either. So the Syrian tyrant survives another day. The same occurred in Hungary.  The civil war is going on in only one part of Syria.
The other part of the equation is ISIS. Isis is in Syria, old Iraq and all over the place. ISIS is both and idea like atheist Communism but it's also a state.  Islamic State.  The idea is pure Moslem jihad.  It's the same idea the Christians fought against in Spain and Venice.  Jihad.  Saudi is probably backing ISIS now but they're not 'allies'.  They may be investors.  America probably backed ISIS in the beginning but not anymore.  ISIS has no 'allies', only "investors' right now.  
We now have a million and a half refugees and migrants.  Refugees are escaping and would like to go home.  Migrants are just looking for a better place to live. Canada says they’re going to accept 25,000 tomorrow.  We're not sure if they're going to be Refugees or Migrants.  I'd rather have Mexican Migrants.  But we can accept Syrian 'refugees'.  Instead of 3 years of screening we would normally use before taking refugee/migrants we're going to accept them this week because Justin Trudeau made a political 'promise'.  So we turn the Department of Immigration into a Fast Food joint. Give them a place to live.
Britain accepted refugees in the early part of WWII.  The difference there is that Britain armed their refugees.  They were called the Free French and Free Poles.   They prepared for D Day.
Watch Justin Trudeau ’s behaviour (don’t trust his smooth upper class privileged boy words).  He  give the Hell’s Angel’s California.  He says , let ISIS win. In WWII, the leader who said that was Chamberlain.  Winston Churchill was the other guy.  It was an Islamist Jihad convert who attacked Parliament. ISIS, like the Communist atheists before them, used propaganda to convert Canadians.  No one doubted that Communist Russia got it's nuclear weapon capacity because of traitors in Canada and the US.  The same traitors today leave to go join ISIS and plot to blow up Canada.
So we’ll let those who don’t want to live in California under a tyranny of killing, whoring, drug addicted criminals come and live in our country. Hell's Angels wins.   Naturally the Hell’s Angels will keep expanding.
 Canada the Coward forsakes NATO.  Coward Canada runs. When I travelled Europe Canada’s name and honour and respect was ‘won’ by the Canadian Armed Forces. Canadians were admired because they helped Europeans defeat Hitler. The idea that Canada is admired for leftist ideology. Canada is admired for it's success. It was admired in Europe for fighting Hitler. It won't be admired for cowardice.
A very large proportion, some say most of the refugee/migrants are young men, fit soldier aged men.  What if we take all the ‘young men’  and  simply offer to accept train, equip and lead them back to fight ISIS.  
Syria, backed by Russia isn’t going to give up.
If Californians ran to Canada to escape the Hell's Angels we'd support them by training, equipping and even leading them on a counter assault.  We'd help take back California from the Hell's Angels.
That's what Britain did.  Armed and equipped the Free French and coordinated the Free Poles and Free Dutch and lead the retaking of Europe. If you've watched American TV you'll be as confused about WWII as Canadians are today confused about ISIS.
That’s what we did with the Belgiums and French after the NAZI’s invaded their country.   ISIS is the new NAZI religious dictatorship.
The absurdity of Justin Trudeau’s solution, running and hiding under the bed, is classic Chamberlain, pro Hitler logic.  Instead we accept that the Hell’s Angels doesn’t have a right to California.  We Churchill the situation.  Follow the winners.   We train, equip and lead those refugees who want their homes back and they take middle eastern land back from ISIS.
Justin Trudeau is Chamberlain.
ISIS has threatened Canada  and Justin runs home.  The Hells Angels wins.  ISIS wins. California goes to the Hells Angels.  The Middle East goest to ISIS.  Paris this week. Ottawa next week.
It took Germany a few years to win Europe.  Time moves faster now.  The French learned their lesson when they ran away.  Now they stand and fight.  E
Justin Trudeau nees to stand up.  Right now he and Canada are seen as cowards by their NATO allies.  Take this opportunity. Kill two birds with one stone. Accept Refugge warriors and build a Free Syrian Army whose first objective will be to take back the land taken by ISIS. Refugees can return home.  Syria is divided.  The civil war is postponed.
Our military bases are for military training.  They shouldn’t be turned into homeless shelters.  Help the refugees get their land back the same way Churchill helped De Galle.  Build a Refugee Army to return and take back what ISIS has claimed.  That way Canada chooses when Canadians die rather than letting ISIS pick us off one by one, the terrorist way.

American Sniper - the movie

American Sniper, the movie, is incredible.  I expected as much when I saw that Clint Eastwood was the director. His Gran Turino movie is one of my all time favourites.  Bradley Cooper stars as  Chris Kyle in this movie which is based on Chris Kyle's life.  Chris Kyle was the American Navy Seal credited as the deadliest sniper, with 255 kills of which 160 were officially confirmed,  in the Iraq War.  Chris Kyle did 4 tours and returned home to be killed by another Veteran who he was helping.  His wife Taya Renae Kyle is played by the extraordinary Sienna Miller.
The amazing story and direction breaks the movie up into matching frames with Chris Kyle in Iraq and Taya his wife at home.  In one poignant scene he comes under attack while talking on a satellite phone to Tayal.  Sienna Miller's acting in this part of the movie is deeply beautiful.  Chris Kyle did 4 tours. By the fourth he's experiencing symptons associated with PTSD.  It's his last tour.  His bravery and the extraordinary dangers and threats he and his team faced in Iraq are so alien to the world at home.  The movie shows this well.  There's an amazing juxtaposition of Chris Kyle fighting against the Olympic athlete sniper who serves the Iraqui's.  Two pees in a pod who each sees themselves as protecting their fellow soldiers.  Each amazingly disciplined and skilled.  The fanaticism of the enemy is captured well.  Chris Kyle's simple service and explanation for his work is that he's there to protect his comrades.  He's a hero.  A man's man. A soldier's soldier. He's a big brother and his little brother joins the marines.  Chris Kyle is the big brother one wants.  He's a devoted husband but his work makes family life difficult.  The movie captures this so well.  All in all it's a great movie of a great man.
Chris Kyle is to the work of a sniper what Einstein was to the work of physicists.  He's like a Muhammed Ali with a rifle.  An amazing superhuman disciplined force of nature.  A genius like Billy Bishop who shot down the Red Baron. He's an American Hero.
The movie is great.  Clint Eastwood is amazing. The writer Jason Hall is amazing too.
That said I was appalled to read some of the critics of the movie, arm chair critics mind you, some who'd not even seen it, some who criticized Chris Kyle, and they themselves had achieved nothing significant in their lives except maybe got drunk and smoked some pot. It was a sad reflection on Facebook and Social Media to see the negativity and 'haters' and those whose envy of greatness had them spouting all manner of nonsense.
Yes, war is horrible.  Yes America is an empire like the British before them and the Roman's before them and the Russians and the Turks and the Azteks and the Moghuls and all the world's empires. And yes there are soldiers.  And yes soldier fight and compete with other soldiers who would have what the people inside empire's have.  So the Nazi's fought all of Europe to establish the Nazi empire and the Communists of Mao tse Tung fought all the Chinese to get their empire. Now all the military's of the world stand ready to fight each other.
Of course like John Lennon, I  say  "Give Peace a Chance."
Every adolescent boy and protected girl knows what everyone should do. Of course we should stop fighting and ISIS should stop chopping peoples heads off.
Everyone has great ideas and they pass a bottle of wine and a bong and talk big talk.  Tibet and Nepal are wonderful places where the very spiritual meditate but then the Chinese Communists, one of lowest forms of humanoid uncivilized bullies arrogant psychopathic sorts not even toilet trained no better than the raping Russian peasant soldiers who destroyed warsaw, while these Chinese thugs killed the monks.  The Buddhists fight Buddhists, Moslems fight Moslems and Christians Christians and Jews Jews and sometimes they fight each other.
War is a basic.
Soldiers have served to protect the rest of us who don't want to face bullets and bombs up close and real.  Van Gogh was a great painter. Chis Kyle was a great sniper.  The world is full of talkers.  I'm personally still impressed with great orators but not the stuff that was written like spewed garbage by the critics of Chris Kyle.  He's an American Hero and lots  of people today make a 'troll' life for themselves 'chopping off the heads of others in an attempt to make themselves taller.'
I accept the need for law and order and military actions if only because as I've got older I've seen that 'polyannaism' leads to the Chamberlain like silliness that starts wars.  Animals attack when they think they have an advantage.  That's the way of predators.
I'm as much an idealist as the next guy but I'm not smoking marijuana and not on crack so I can ask the simple question who would have saved the lives that Chris Kyle saved better than the best like he was.  Who would you as a soldier want having oversight on your walking through the valley of the shadow of death where women and children are used as combatants.  Personally I'd always want Chris Kyle on my side in a war.  He embodied excellence.
So thank you Chris Kyle for your bravery, discipline, service and sacrifice. Thank you the wife and children of Chris Kyle for your sacrifice.
Thank you Jason Hall and Clint Eastwood this incredible story.  And thank you Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller for such great acting that I feel I got a glympse into the reality of the sacrifices that soldiers and their families make so that we can be safe.  

 

Limit Setting/Holding Love

One of the greatest books of Pediatric Psychiatry was Omnipotent Child by Thomas P. Millar, a West Vancouver Psychiatrist.  When I saw families years ago I used to recommend parents read this classic in combination with an equally great book by Alice Miller, called Drama of the Gifted Child,
Dr. Millar clearly demonstrated in his vast experience that many children were 'neglected' by parents who failed to limit set.  By contrast Psychoanalyst Alice Miller with her intense experience saw that abused children were often a product of being misunderstood 'gifted' children.  As a consequence of reading both books one could better navigate the fine line between smothering, mothering, and othering.
Children overly parented and protected were infantilized whereas children without parenting felt alien.  The happy medium was what each of these great authors sought to help parents and therapists find.
I loved learning as a psychiatrist that if I didn't set 'limits' and allowed a child to 'rage' out of control then I was giving the child the frightening experience of his being indeed the parent or the adult.  This was the essence of the book, Lord of the Flies.  If there is no 'limit' to a child's rage then indeed we are likely to cry "the horror, the horror' like Kurtz because at the most 'primitive' emotions are rawest and most open to dangerous expression.
There is merit in discipline.  Societies have developmental stages like individuals.  Maslow developped a hierarchy of needs showing the need for safety to precede self actualization.  Erik Erickson showed with his 8 fold developmental stages the importance of 'trust' before love.
A child especially an adolescent needs to feel safe in this world. If the child is indeed in control then as Dr. Millar explains so adeptly they develop 'omnipotence' which comes with 'fear' because if there is no one to stop my homicidal or suicidal rage then I'm alone.  Alice Miller points out that the gifted child seeks expression but nonetheless parents and society must 'limit' this expression for the betterment of the child and the family and society.
Even now there is ISIS refusing to accept international law, denying the role of the courts, setting up their own Lord of the Flies, primitive childish society with all the inherrent violence, chopping off of heads and caricatures of real states.  All around them the parent states of this cult and gang are together with military force limitting their expression.  This limit setting is little different from the limit setting that a parent does when a child wishes to bash another child's head with a rock.
So we all want to 'love' the child. Grandparents love that they can 'spoil' the child knowing that the parents will be left with the obligation of discipline.  Single parents often resolve their tyrant power position by leaving the 'discipline' to the state which involves 'child protection' and police and jails.  Historically the mother at home provided the child 'unconditional love' because the father who was the interface with the outside world provided 'conditional love'. In the great 50's classic of this , mother would tell her children 'wait till your father gets home'. If mother and father couldn't "control' a child's behaviour then the community in the form of child protection services, youth court and jails and police did, just as the militaries of the world are now addressing ISIS reign of terror.
I really would love to be in a world where England's Chamberlain was right and Hitler could be 'reasoned' with.  I grew up singing with the Beatles "all we need is love".  I am to this day working on forgiving the violence my school inflicted on children as a norm, the canings and strapping I received.  Of course, if I'd been a tad smarter I'd not of got caught and a tad brighter I'd not have lipped off at a teacher or two.
The fact is, the world's not perfect.  I think if the ISIS members had been better loved and children and had more breast feeding and less aggressive potty training they might 'do unto others as they would have done unto themselves' but I'm older. I've worked with thousands of people in a variety of centers and just find some are slow learners when it comes to limit setting.
One of my patients was a child who was an arsonist.  Despite the communities best efforts to protect themselves they simply could not get the parents 'to control' their 5 year old child so the town simply out of self preservation rejected the family after they had caused millions of dollars of damage.  The parents saw themselves and 'loving' yet the child was to all intents 'neglected' and only with massive arson projects could they get the attention they missed.
In the best of all possible worlds there would be no 'limit setting'. There would be no need for 'police' and 'social workers' and 'military' and 'judges'.  This would be called 'heaven' or 'paradise' but it's not reality.
The fact is, limit setting is a holding form of love.  My parents set rules for me to learn in the home so that I would be prepared for the rules that I would encounter in school and society. Now I've lived in different countries and travelled extensively and am thankful that I was taught so lovingly that there were rules and consequences.
Watching a birds nest recently in a presentation of time lapse photograph with the camera mounted nearby I noted that most of the chicks with little encouragement left the nest but one really didn't do that well.  The parents were by all accounts 'abusive' and 'bullying' but nonetheless the chick was literally 'kicked' out of the nest.  Begrudgingly it flew and appeared happy like the first chick which had appeared to want to fly from the very start.
Some of this is development.  Some of it's resources.  Obviously Adolf Hitler might have needed a few decades of all the mothers in the world teaching him potty training so that he wouldn't be damaged. The fact is he got the best perhaps his mother and his society could offer at the time.  ISIS leaders obviously needed more time on the breast but didn't get it.  Maybe each of them with a few decades in prison and full time with Dalai Lama and Bishop Tutu might lose their passion for chopping off others heads coupled with their adolescent sadistic selfie addiction.  The issue is then 'resource management'.  How much is everyone willing to pay and this question of 'economics' is really tied to the idea of what the 'military budget' should be.  Are the threats external or internal. Should there be more education internally on police or education and health care?
Obviously I believe in limit setting and holding love.  I believe there's a need for balance.  I like moderation. However, I think often I'm surrounded by really stupid people who believe 'all we need is love' and somehow think that the undisciplined masses produce free love and goodness rather than chaos and hysteria.  Am I the only one who saw how the hippy communes collectively collapsed.  I don't think we're going to be a better place when everyone smokes marijuana and we can all hang out at the beach.  I for one am thankful for parents and police and teachers and doctors  and the military and the politicians and accountants. I'm aware that I appreciate 'limits' and stop doing things because I don't want negative consequences. I don't think this is odd. I think it's human.  If I started chopping off my neighbours heads (and some of them really aren't using them) I understand that the community would 'limit' me just like they would a child who took a knife to the playground and began slashing the other children.
I know it's politically correct to sound like an idiot but I even believe the politically correct in a community don't deserve to have their heads removed from their bodies.  Community is about making the most for the most in a  utilitarian sense and involves 'exclusivity' and 'inclusivity'.  If I don't 'limit set' my dog, ie stop him humping your little girl, there's a good chance that a higher power will stop my dog's behaviour.
Because I love my dog, I set limits to his behaviour and clean up his shit. Ideally in time I'll get him to work his paws around those little green baggies so he can pick up his own shit. But I accept for now I'm probably going to have to be the one to do the scooping.  I suspect there's more likelihood my dog will learn how to clean up his own shit than ISIS and the likes will. I still have hope.

Psychiatry and Spirituality - In the beginning

"In the beginning there was God. And God created the heavens and the earth and everything and everyone in them," said the student.
"Was there God and building blocks?" asked the master?
"No, just God in the beginning."
"So then everything is made of God, isn't it?" said the master.
 "Yes!"

Thereoretically there is no need for God as creator. Everything could just be unfolding as it is. However computer programs that measure the time it would take for a monkey to play the violin suggest very simply there isn't enough 'time' since the Big Bang,  That's the moment of creation.  Then it's possible that humans 'evolved' elsewhere.  That posits the 'seeding' of the earth by space travellers.

But then the question begets the question of where this other 'creator' came from.

Evolution tries poorly to suggest 'random' events would lead to 'creation' as we understand and know it. The trouble with this 'random' 'mutation' idea is that an infinitisemally small 'mutations' are 'beneficial'.  The vast majority of 'mutations' which we know of and see are negative and counter creation.  So evolution is a poor 'model' for the BIG PICTURE.  It might well explain little stuff but at the big level it just doesn't compare with the idea of a MYSTERY.

There 'arrogance' in believing "I know".  There's "humility' in saying 'I don't really know."  There's the mystery.

Science is humble.  Religion has a tendency to insist they know but personally as a scientist and a theist I BELIEVE.  I don't know how man 'evolved' from the Big Bang.  I've got an idea that maybe some monkey marriage lead to a proto human by some kind of 'intelligent design'.  Maybe even man was created whole as the Bible says.  Maybe there really was a Charleton Heston kind of guy who was back there in time.  That was yesterday. I don't know.  It's a mystery.  As a scientist, I have 'hypothesis'.  An hypothesis, is an 'educated mystery'.  We may have evolved from monkeys or monkeys may have devolved from us or we may have evolved in parallell.

This discussion doesn't help with my fundamental belief in a Mystery God creator that I can communicate today.

I BELIEVE.

I have a hypothesis of an original creator.  I anthropormised this 'OTHER".  I imagine t hem bored.  The oldest game is "Hide and Seek".  The Creator is one or zero.  The next step is 2.  Black and White. Yin and Yang. Or "Hide and Seek".  Or "You're the biter and I'm the ass that's bit".

Martin Buber,the great Jewish theologian/philosopher wrote a book  "I and Thou".  The real issue of getting beyond the 'Paranoid Position" of "I and IT"  is to accept that sense of anxiety which is a natural experience of humanity to the position of "I and Thou".  Bob Dylan's song "I and I" is a religious folk tradition referring to the Caribean "I and I" god tradition struggling in the same vein.

Kierkegaard referred to the essential state of existence as emitionally "existential angst".  He described existence as "Suffering unto death'.  This sense of 'separation' has been described as "alienation'.

Indeed religious thinkers have defined "Anxiety as a measure of our distance from God".

In the Hindu tradition the Overself is seen as the reality but our present existence is an 'underself'" or 'little self' that cannot appreciate the 'limitless' or 'infinite' because of our arbitrary 'limited' or 'finite' experience in this realm.

Reality is considered a 'Construct' by Owen Barfield.

It is a hypothesis of the 'String Theory' that this experience of a 'UNI-VERSE'  is really a "MULTI VERSE."

I just don't think there's reason to be  'adament' about one thing or another. I certainly wouldn't fight about these distinctions, yet there's a wholeness in the understanding and 'acceptance' of these understandings.  So often people don't realize they are living their lives according to some BIG PICTURE idea of life and the world and everything which is itself causing them their difficulties.

In psychiatry we see this in examples like, "GOD hates homos".  The people who make such crude and primitive statements may not really be aware of GOD or homos but they certainly are likely authorities on hate.  As hate authorities we might wish to take their comments seriously.

If we posit a GOD then we consider next that GOD

1) Neutral
2)  Active
3) Passive
4) Limitted
 5) Unlimitted
6) Inside
7) Outside
8) Participating
9) Communicating

After we've considered those we might get into whether he hates homos or whether he hates asparagus more.

The idea of Neutrality is to some extent what scientists think in the evolutionary sense. Whether there was a God Creator or not, there is this GAME called LIFE and the universe and everything and it's here and we're (humans) are in it.  It's quite possible that God made it for us to play and left or is merely watching. Thou might well be a sleep.

Some might say that God is limitted and not unlimitted.

Some think of God as outside the universe and us while others believe God is inside.

The question of whether Thou is participating in us, the universe/multiverse and everything is another question.

I personally believe that God is Omipresent, Omniscient, Immanent and Loving.

In the 12 step programs like AA and NA individuals are told to "make their own God'. It is recognised that the person who goes into Recovery is already religious but their God is a material substance immanent in the world, active in their life and soemthing they literally worship.  "The God of Your Understanding" is something that you can imagine as bigger than Whiskey or Heroin.  That's the notion of a Higher Power, something higher than the thing that is enslaving you, keeping you in bondage.

In the Schizophrenic or paranoid there may be an 'idea' that is central to the disability.  Questioning this central idea, that of say, a hateful God or a shameful act or a heaven or hell or a position in and out may be necessary to help a person come to terms with what is causing their particularly anxiety.
The therapy of R. D. Laing was one of unravelling the "Knots' that tied up these people in their own bondage preventing them freedom and joy.

The idea of a God that is active in your life is difficult for people.  Your God is Too Small is one of the great little books of all time in which an Anglican priest challenges people to look at their prayer life and their "idea" of  God.

It's sad that aetheists like Nitzhe and Hichens hadn't read that book. Their "idea" of God which they rail against is a very historic notion of God.  The idea that God evolves is taken up in the book, The Evolution of God.  The author there points to the changing ideas about the nature of God implicit and explicit in the Bible. Aetheists rarely engage our "MODERN GOD"  but rather talk about ancient history.

Communism is the present day social expression of aetheism. Indeed communism can be considered the largest religion to date of the aetheism.  In aetheist criticism of theism they commonly talk about historic 'ideas' of God whereas they get all emotional if one points to actual communists today killing people.

The Theists killing people today are for example ISIS. They whack people all the time. However their God isn't a MODERN GOD or a POST MODERN GOD but rather a 15th century version of God.  ISIS want to time travel to a simpler time when men had sex slaves and swords decided who was ruler.  ISIS God isn't even ALLAH but more like a WAR GOD.

Polytheism has these 'limitted' GOD constructs. The God of Agriculture for Greek Romans was Ceres/Demeter.  Zeus, the God of God was a limitted God too.

But the Modern Postmodern God is a limitless loving God which was glympsed in Hinduism and Buddhism and specifically what Jesus talked to especially naming the God of His Understanding as "ABBA" which means 'Daddy".

Loving God.

Indeed spiritual people today would simply answer the question

What was in the beginning?

"In the Beginning was Love?"

Accepting that, how did we get here from there?

Blue Mosque - Istanbul, Turkey

The Blue Mosque was completed in 1616.  It is the Sultan Ahmed Mosque but known as the Blue Mosque because of the blue tiles that adorn the interior.  The Mosque has 6 minarets.  Not wanting to offend Mecca who at the time had only as many minarets, Sultan Ahmed donated a minaret to Mecca.  Sudefkar Mehmed Aga, the architect was the student of the great architect Sinan.
My guide Mehmet Tetik showed me the model of Mecca in the Blue Mosque which shows the green tomb of Mohammed.  Mehmet  explained that after his death in 632 was succeeded by four Caliphs.  The names of the four Caliphs are often seen in the mosques along with the names of Mohammed and  of Allah.   These Caliphs were ‘elected’ .  The first was Abu Bakr.  Division in the Muslim community occurred with the successions. Umar and Uthman and Ali followed were accepted by the  dominant Sunni but the real controversy that lead to the division of Shia and Sunni occurred with the 5th Caliph.  Caliph is short for Khalifah meaning “messenger of God’. Mehmet explained that at any one time there was only one Caliph.  (There were occasionally two caliphs one in Egypt and one in Bhagdad).
Mehmet explained that the Caliph was like the Pope is in the west, predominantly the religious leader however the most politically powerful empire such as the Ottoman Empire claimed the Ottoman Caliphate.  They claimed the caliphate after Mehmed II’s conquest of Constantinople in 1453.  With Mustafa Kemil (Ataturk) reforms, the caliph position was abolished.
The Four Rashidum (rightfully guided) caliphs expanded Islam beyond Arabia conquering Persia, Syria, Armenia, Egypt, much of North Africa, Spain and Portugal
The fifth Caliph Muawiya appointed his son Caliph and changed the election process to dynastic.   This has been the beginning of the dispute between the Sunni and Shiites.  Turkey is mostly Sunni as Iran is mostly Shiite.
The Ottoman Empire, ruled from Constantinople, at it’s peak covered Anatolia, most of the middle east, North Africa, the Caucasus, and extended deep into Eastern Europe.  The Ottoman Empire lasted over 600 years.  In contrast the British Empire last only a few hundred years though with it’s navy base was far more global.
ISIS or Islamic State (acronym - Islamic State in Iraq and Syria)  has claimed the Caliph self appointing themselves and claiming to represent the Mahdi.  The Mahdi meaning ‘guidedone’ was a prophecy that a descendent of Mohammed would work in concert with Jesus Christ to convert the entire world to Islam. There have been hundreds of splinter groups and Jihadi groups which are naturally as much of a concern to the existing Muslim states as they are to the west since they kill anyone who they believe is not a true moslem by there peculiar fundamentalist and idiosyncratic emotional standards.  They’re principally Sunni and kill Shiites as easily as Christians and Jews.
Mehmet explained that Turkey which was secularized by Ataturk and while the present leadership is more conservative religiously the country of Turkey is very broad based religiously from those who believers but only participate in part of the religious process to those who are adamant and fundamentalist.
 “We have C&E Christians in the West and it sounds like you have the same in Turkey”.
What is a C&E Christian? “ Mehmet asked.
“Christmas and Easter, that’s the only time you see them in church.”
Mehmet laughed , "yes, that is true.”
He said that mostly Muslims were concerned about ISIS and didn’t accept their violence.  From the sounds of ISIS they’re as likely to kill their neighbours as their enemies and it’s no surprise that the Muslim nations themselves are leading the recent attacks against them.
When a pope came to the Blue Mosque with the leader of the Turkish Muslims he prayed for the ‘brotherhood of man’.  Peace seems more at the deepest nature of God.   Being in the Blue Mosque I enjoyed the peacefulness of the place, the sense of serenity and imagined that together all praying the love of God for all could radiate in such a place of beauty.  The Blue Mosque is truly beautiful, an extraordinary work of architecture.  I think Mehmet told me there were more than a million Iztek tiles used to make the mosque.
I believe that God is love and that love joins whereas fear resides within man and fear separates.  That said I tell Mehmet that if I was threatened or my family and friends I would quickly revert to the animal within and defend myself.  Mehmet says, “that’s man’s nature”.  We laugh at this.  It is good to enjoy conversation in good company at peace and yet how difficult it must be for the leaders of the world to find ways to get along with so many competing aims and fractions.

No likeness could appear in a mosque but a scroll in the mosque with fine calligraphy describes the personal likeness of Mohammed. There was also a picture of Mecca and a model of the  tomb of Mohammed.
