Apple Store, Pacific Centre Mall, Vancouver

I'm at the Pacific Centre Apple Store in downtown Vancouver. They've been very helpful as usual. I had this ipad problem. Suddenly the music would come on. As I have gospel music downloaded on the pad. My favourite is Third Day. It was a rather spiritual experience at first. I wondered if there was some message involved. Then Gordon Lightfoot, Eric Burdon and the Animals and Dianna Krall started coming out of the pad at awkward times. I consider all the musical genius on my ipad truly spiritual but some of the Old Blind Dog songs are a tad risque. So I came here and was told to reset to factory settings after backing up to Icloud. So far it's pretty good. No sounds of Joni Mitchell or Selah coming on without me touching the device. Who would have thought that such a simple solution would be the answer. I'd thought of chucking the thing against the wall and guess that wouldn't have been nearly as wise as following the directions I've just done from the bright young blue shirted Apple assistant here. Go figure!

IPAD 3

Last week my MacAir was stolen from the methadone maintenance clinic in the Downtown Eastside. It carries a heavy karmic price stealing from a doctor. My dog was there but I guess he knew the person or wisely, being a little guy, chose not to object. What does he care about technology. It wasn't a bone or a ball that was being stolen.

I looked into replacing the MacAir but there's been no real developments since I bought it a couple of years back. It had essentially replaced the ipad 1 I'd bought the year before. I really liked the IPad but the keyboard add on was a heavy as it was. The MacAir was lighter than both together. I'm often hauling these devices about with me so am really conscious of the weight. This new Ipad 3 is lighter than those before and Zagg has made a Zagfolio for the Ipad. It's a really fine keyboard and a cover for the machine combined.

So I'll pass on old IPAD and this new Ipad will replace the functions that the MacAir was doing, mostly email and blogging as well as on line searching. I do a lot of work from home so this computer served that purpose but I didn't keep files on this computer, just research and emails.

The camera feature is great for skype. All round this IPAD 3 is ahead of the one before. I think there should be an airbrush feature on the skype and photo functions though. Now I'll try Netflix to see if the picture is that much sharper. It seems a brighter clearer screen with better resolution. Supposedly what the "iris" feature is all about as well. I'm not happy that my McAir was stolen. It's a terrible violation. Theft in Vancouver is as common as bedbugs though so it's the price we pay for the beautiful views. Right now Vancouver is sensational.

The Apple Store in downtown Pacific Center on Georgia was a delight. The kids had me up and running with everything transferred from one ipad to another. Telus downstairs had me running with a new plan with flexible data for streaming. It was a relatively pain free experience. I think this system may be better than the McAir. I'm connected to Cloud so will see how bringing in pictures works with that.

Inflight WiFi

I'm pumped. I'm on a Delta flight apparently somewhere over Denver according to the Ipad gps locator en route from Minneapolis to Vancouver. It cost me $9.95 on my Visa. I don't really need it. But it's the same cost as a movie might be and really I'm enjoying the experience. It's a first.

I was impressed on the Delta flight I was on earlier that they had chargers for iphones and computers. I've just read in the SkyMall of extra iphone and cell phone batteries which also can be solar charged. The ipad battery hasn't been a concern but the iphone battery tends to run down sooner than I'd like. I used the plugs for charging in the airport but would appreciate an inflight charger on this plane especially since I've got this inflight wi fi.

In flight wi fi is a first for me. For the frequent flier it can be bought at a monthly rate of $39 dollars. I remember when I was so impressed with my first taste of wi fi. This is the latest Harry Potter novel in computer technology.

I've said the iPad is the cabbage patch doll of computer technology. I just bought my brother and nephews them as gifts. Partly it's because they're all young or old adults and it's hard to come up with gifts.

So here I am with my iPad having taken a picture with iPhone transferred it to the iPad with the camera attachment and then attached it to the blog in Blogpress. Now I'll upload it. Wow. This is as much fun as finding really flat stones and skipping them at least 10 times on a calm lake.
