Iraklia, Crete, Dec. 2012
I stayed at the Kronus Hotel, friendly, central, safe, view of the sea down the street. I ate at the Pantheon Restaurant, delicious, friendly, safe. I loved walking the streets, fascinating, friendly, safe. This is bustling tourist town with lots of cafe's, clubs and stores open late at night. I came for Knossos but enjoyed the night in Iraklia as well.

Aegean Airlines, Heraklion,Crete and Athens, Greece, Dec. 2012
I enjoyed the Aegean Airlines flight both ways, Athens to Crete and Crete to Athens. It was only about a half hour flight with no hassles. Service was superb. I enjoyed the view as well. There's nothing like a view from the air to put things in perspective. Seeing Athens on return I was impressed with some of the large estates, the density of apartment buildings, coupled with areas of farmland. The tv screens showed the flight path and named the islands we passed over. The lovely friendly stewardesses managed to serve coffee on the short trip. The cost was minimal.
