Mehter, Turkey's Military Band

At the Instanbul Military Museum there was a collection of instruments. There was also a stage. The Mehter, the Military Band of Turkey did a performance that was simply terrific.

Instanbul Military Museum

The Instanbul Military Museum held a lot of history. There were the weapons of armour used through the years but also large depictions of the various pivotal battles in the Ottoman Empire. I finally understood the layout of the Gallipoli battle thanks to the models.  The Mehter Military Band performance was sensational.

Istanbul Industrial Museum

The Instabul Industrial Museum was definitely the place for boys. Boats, machines, cars, motorcycles, outboard engines, planes I loved it all.  We even took a little train ride. Some of the kids on the train with us were having their first train experience. They even had Harry Potter’s car.  There were also doll’s houses my aunt would have loved. Kismat a sailboat that had toured the world with her family was on display too.
