Hollywood RV Park, LA - Adventure South - Thor Hurricane - Friday Dec.19, 2025

I am so pleased to be here. The folk are so welcoming.  Grace is a beautiful writer, full lipped, bright eyes. voluptuous. Madigan fell in love with her immediately and rubbed up against her.  The kind of gal who soothes the animal soul.  She introduced me to Steve the grounds manager.  He found me a place, 87 which has some open sky for my Starlink. We talked Harleys and long hair days.  I told him I was a doctor, family physician, psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist.  I don’t have boundaries. I’m thankful I didn’t drive off a cliff or be taken out by a semi  I’m glad to be alive. It takes me a bit to come back from alone with the road and traffic to human connection.

I left the tranquility of Orange Grove RV Bakersfield.  The hills before LA cause me anxiety.  I came here years back to do my FLEX exams.  I’d graduated paychiatry but to get the American license had to do my general medicine preparation.  Fortunately I’d practiced family medicine and public health but was anxious about the basic premed sciences  biochemistry and kidney.  I passed those exams.

Next time coming back was Disneyland with a friends child. Fun times. I loved the holograms. Then I was back again passing through to San Diego in the mini.  I drove through with the mini at night before I knew I had cataracts and the glare was unsettling. Then I drove through in the day and it was as easy as today. Last time was the truck and camper while this time was the  first go with the new to me 2022 Thor Hurricane Motorhome

The road was so broken up it was like the corduroy logging roads but it settled out. I got in behind a big truck in the serenity lane.  I was then in the LA traffic and my passenger mirror had come loose.  I’d had to pull across 4 lanes to get to where I could stop and tighten the screw.  Then I was here.

The place is incredible camp. Reminds me of the fellow I knew who did his condo in western Pee Wee with all the kitch accouterments.  Here they have the signs like Rodo Drive, Sunset Blvd, Route 66, pink flamingos, and antique police cars,  mannequins talking in red British phone booths. It’s incredible.  Creative. Alive. Hollywood.

She told me she wrote for movies. It had brought her from Florida.  She saw the name of my motor home was Hurricane. She’d seen a lot of those, she said. I’d told her I ‘d  solo sailing through one in winter in the pacific.  I felt blessed to have survived   so saw Hurricane as  name, positively

She’s going to phone me an Enterprise.  They’ll come and pick me up. Just around the corner. 5 minutes. Car rental. Love it.

Steve’s assistant , a good looking famous cop look alike from the 80’’s  guy helped me set up . They have their own sewage hoses.  I just had to pull out my water hose and 30 watt electrical connector.  He directed me into this spot.  Steve told me my neighbour was a friendly guy who ‘d done sound in the movie industry 35 years.  the woman behind me was a psychiatrist working in addiction too.  A friendly interesting place.  Reminiscent of the character in a W. Sommerset Maugham tale.

It’s all so exciting. I’m down for a few weeks now. .  Rather than a loving God I often think I have of God as Coyote, like Cato in the Pink Panther series.  Inspector Custeau, Peter Sellers, wanted to be prepared at all times so had his assistant attack him when he least expected it.  With all the crashes in my life I’m praying daily for protection and safe passage.  And I’m here. Safe and sound. It’s always a pleasant surprise to me even if it’s more and more the normal .I’m very thankful .  LA traffic is exesssive. I’ll be glad to driving  a small car rather than this behemoth.

I texted Laura  of my arrival. I sent a picture of the site and Thor and Madigan. She’s with her sister over the weekend then flies in to LA  830 am Monday.  I’m going to enjoy the company.  .

I love the air conditioning here though the heat outside is perfect.  T shirt and shorts weather.

Thank you God. Thank you Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus!!@!

Burnaby - Canada Day

it was truly wonderful to wake yesterday in the Sunshine Valley.  The sky was blue. The sun was hot.  Children and dogs were playing.  Quads were gunning their engines.  People were headed out to the pools with multi colored towels, The air was fresh with the scent of campfires left over from the night before.  Early risers were cooking breakfast. Laura and I and Madigan had slept the night through waking restful and grateful.
Thank you God for another day. I’ve woken that way today. Thank you God for another day.
It took little time to load the bicycle, take down and stow bicycles, lawn chairs and Starlink.  I knew how to retract the awning and the slides and the jacks.  In no time we were pulling out of Sunshine Valley RV Resort.  Heading home.
I’m more confident driving.  I’m used to the noises of the motorhome.  It’s clunky like a Jeep or Truck.  It’s big.  The alarm sounded when we passed the RV slums roughly the same distance we’d come when the alarm had gone off going the other way.  I was able to stop for gas only to find the gas fill was on the driver side. I found the portable water tank on the other side. It was tight getting into the gas pumps but after going slow on the side road with increased ventilation the beeping stopped,, I’d found it came from the bedroom and later surmised it was a sensor by the fuse box, perhaps the propane sensor or electrical. The clothing and ‘stuff’ from the bedroom side window had fallen and likely was contributing to the lack of ventialiation. I later asked Grok about alarms and learned more.  I feel I’m ready.  It’s heat and ventilation related and went off when I turned off the engine and when I increased the ventilation.
I believe the Ford air conditioning system needs more fluids. The ‘change oil’ sign comes on in the morning. I plan to discuss a service with Coastal Ford maybe in August.  Having driven across Canada with the change oil sign on the F350 and discussed that with several mechanics I’m okay for a while. I do wonder spiritually why I’m having lubricant maintenance signs happening on the truck, the motorhome and months back the Harley.  What is the meaning for me at the deeper level?  I don’t know but I’m okay. I’ll prevail.
I’m thankful for sobriety and AA and the lessons of spirituality because I remember how ‘freaked’ and ‘anxious and angry’ I’d have been 30 years ago.  I really did believe God was hostile and punishing and the world was hostile. Today I’m thankful that I believe my God is a loving God and that we will ‘win’ in the end.  This too will pass.  Life is a journey and an adventure
I’m back in Burnaby at a different site.  It was a much easier ride home.  I still love the panorama view from the grand Class A window.  It’s glorious.  I feel like I’m at the movie theatre driving a bus.
Laura helped me back into the new spot closer to Earnest and Nicoliona’s Thor.  The key was having a bush rather than a tree behind me so the Starlink was unobstructed. My Torino Electric Bicycle is pushed up against the bush and not easily accessible, But I have my Harley once again.
I am happy with the electric bicycle for now but will get the Motorhome over to H&E hitch to see if I can mount my motorcycle ramp and carrier to the back.  I eventually want to tow a little truck like the Ford Maverick so I can carry the Harley in the back and have the truck for expeditions.
Laura and I want to take the Motorhome to Harrison’s next this summer, and maybe Whistler RV.  I find myself looking forward to returning to Fountain of Youth hot springs in Southern California and LA Long Beach.  I’m living one day at a tine but hopeful and feeling positive about the future.
We’re set up again here,  It’s so green and pleasant.  I road the Harley to Tiki Boo Laundry dropping it off for the lovely young Asian lady who runs the place with her kindly husband. Hard working intelligent folk.  I remember thinking the same of the Jewish couple who ran the corner store near the apartment I had decades back.  I love seeing hard working reliable people.
I’d screwed up with the holiday and work so spent to afternoon doing virtual work and phoning people from the morning so that I was able to manage work as well. A long and tiring day with the drive, But so good to be home safely,  So happy with the Thor Hurricane Motorhome.
Madigan and Laura are such good company, Madigan did  chew the comforter , something he’s not done in a year but it’s a whole new home and world for him so I’m understanding of his anxiety.  He’s a funny little guy, killing Big Bird and the stuffing going all over
I barbecued chicken that the Full Basket Butchers and sold me already marinaded, We had it with a prepared chopped salad kit. It was delicious,  Then we watched Blue Bloods,  Tom Selleck and Warburg and the other great family characters with positive Catholics values and service.  Too much late night snacking with ice cream bars but not too bad on the scale of things,
Today is Canada Day.  I commented on Facebook that people should beware of honking their horns in Ottawa. I continue to distrust the government the mass migrations, the heavy taxation the corruption , the foreign affairs, money missing, globalism and the Liberals in general.  But Carnie is more intelligent than Trudeau and less nauseating.  I’m hopeful.  Israel and the US have bombed the Iranian nuclear facility.  China and Korean and Russia have come together to back Iran, The war between Russia and Ukraine continues with increasing drone use. Elon Musk continues his Starship production.  I hope we reach Mars soon.
Today is Canada Day. Canada is the greatest country in the world,  God’s country.  The Islam invasion continues and I remember Tom thinking the LGBT were the shock troops. Seeing the silly Lesbians for Palestine promoting sharia law is absurd but journalism is more and more just like the Kardasians, click bit,
I’m thankful to be here, blessed by the present
Laura is up and putting the leash on Madigan to take him for his morning walk.  I’ll make another coffee.
Intnerational AA Convention is beginning this week in Vancouver and I’m looking forward to getting to some meetings and speeches. Next week I ride my motorcycle to Spokane to attend IDAA.  It’s a good year for sobriety. I took my 28 year cake and am thankful for the learning and understanding.  Keep coming back. We’ll love you till you can love yourself.  Spirituality is growing love inside.  If there’s a problem you’re looking at the problem in the mirror.  Laws of attraction and perception. Presence.
Thank you God.  Thank you Jesus.  Saints of all religions I bow to you all. May your love shine forever on the sanctuary of my devotion.
Thank you Jesus.  Holy Spirit Come.

Burnaby Home with Madigan and Thor

I am thankful to be home on my Thor Hurricane Motorhome.  I arrived back from Spokane on the HD Nightster Special. What a ride! Laura and Madigan had had the week together.  We got a Monday reprieve, walking the dog and barbecuing steak
Tuesday I spent the day working. Returning to the routine.  Virtual patients 3 hours in the morning and afternoon.  Troubles shooting and prescribing. Walking the dog and sandwiches.  Then at night NCIS.
I was pleased to pick up my laundry before Tiki Boo Laundery Closed.  I was also pleased to be paid and turn pay off the credit cards I’d used in travelling,  After buying the Motorhome and travelling to Ottawa and Spokane it was a bit getting out of credit card debt. Now I’m back on track and feeling better for it.
I’d tried to find an RV site for the Sept 1 long weekend without success,  Ecerything is booked out to 4 hours drive.  That’s the bow hunting opening and then the following weekend is rifle hunting, I was pleased to finally get my PAL renewal.  We’re booking off the week before the Thanksgiving hopefully to go up to Clearwater,  I don’t mind a 5 hour drive if we’re staying a week,
Today I’ve woken at 6, meditated and walked Madigan twice around the park listening to Jordan Peterson discuss Moses and the Burning Bush,.

It’s a routine, these work days.  I was emotionally drained yesterday and wonder at times how it would be without that stress,  I’m being of service and I like being paid. It’s routine.  A bit of a slog at times but really a good life. I feel like all those others who have good work and are steady eddies. I’ve been so pressured in the past and under such demands.  Now it’s almost like being back when I had the government job for a year. I’m not liking the waste and corruption in the news so I try to avoid it,  Social media is increasingly inundated by the systems shit.  I liked watching the lives of friends but that’s less and less of the platform which is increasingly marketing shit.  Shit advertising, shit ideas and shit products.  I need to better use my time, I did some exercise today
It really is good. This is a lovely place and I really am grateful for all the blessings I’ve been given
Thank you Jsusus,

Traveland RV Sales and Thor Hurricane 29 M Motorhome

I bought my second RV at Traveland. Years ago.  Now I’m back again.  My friends Peter .and Larry bought their Tiffin Allegra they love there.  “My Mom and Dad bought their motorhome there,” Peter told me.
I’ve kept getting bigger and bigger outfits much like my dad and mom did .did  They progressed from pole tent to motorhome.  I’ve followed in their wake.
I’ve had only good experience with Traveland and their service department when I bought my RV there.
Nicolina and Ernest just bought a Thor Hurricane.  It looked so skookum from the outside. Then Nicolina seeing me drooling at I stared at their new RV, asked <“Would you like to look inside?  Would I.
It was perfect.
The main issue for me was the size.  32 feet. My Fifth Wheel Toyhauler is 40 feet and I’ve felt overwhelmed from the day I bought it. I use a tow truck to move it about. I love it but I don’t want to be towing it. I’m horrid at backing up. I have an Adventurer Camper with F350 which I ‘ve been snowbirding with the last few years.  My Keystone Fuzion 371 stays in storage because I find it too long to haul and worry about smashing it up as I did once with an earlier RV
Nicolina and Ernest’s Thor is just perfect.  I really believe I can drive a bus that big. It’s gas so I don’t need any extra licensing.  Not like diesel which requires air brakes training.
Peter and Larry’s Tiffin is truly luxurious but another 4- 6 feet longer.  I don’t know what it is psychologically but I really worry about taking turns with that extra length. I’ve yet to test drive the Thor but it really does seem manageable.
I’m taking Laura to Harrison’s Hot Spring this weekend so asked if she’d mind stopping by and looking at the buses in Traveland.  I really wanted to buy from them again.  I did  well with Meridian buying the Fuzion but the whole process of financing wore me out. It was a half day of delays and by the time the papers were signed the joy of the sale had gone. I really did consider going back then though because they are a good company and had excellent service.  My memory of Traveland and Peter’s endorsement had me going there first.
Laura said she’d love to come along.
Traveland is a 10 minute easy to get to drive off the number one.  She immediately remembered it fondly from before. “You bought the RV here the year you took me to Italy.”  She said.  I’d had a medical conference in Milan, IDAA with Dr. Nady El Guebaly. A superb conference all round. Laura and I loved Milan and I’d taken an extra week so we could visit Rome.  I’d rented a Vespa there and Laura and I not only visited the Vatican but rode the Vespa around Rome visiting the other famous cathedral’s.  On return to Canada we so enjoyed the new RV.
Kenny was the salesman the two beautiful receptionists at the front of Traveland  called out for us.  He was thoroughly delightful .  Asked all the right questions and took me directly to a Thor Hurricane, “That’s just come in and fits your budget and I think is what you’re looking for.’  It sure was.  Second hand 2022 but only 20,000 KM on it
“Laura,” I asked, “What do you thiink of it?”
“I love it.” She said, Big smile.
I loved sitting in the driver’s seat. Panoramic view.  Back up camera display.  There was a couch with seats and a dinette table.  The kitchen, sinks, microwave, and fridge were all just fine with lots of counter space for my cooking. What was a real treat was an outdoor kitchen with little fridge and sink and propane for a barbecue. I ‘m always barbecuing.  There’s an outdoor tv but I ‘d rather be inside  on the couch, watching  the really big screen tv. Laura had a couple of places she could sit too. We like to watch shows together while having dinner.  Vera, Yellowstone, Reacher, Bosch.   Most importantly Laura liked the spacious washroom. She ‘s particular about washrooms wanting space and spending an hour in there every morning. I might get a portapotty for relief. . The attraction of bigger RV’’s like the luxurious Tiffin is that they have an extra toilet like my fifth wheel does.  I’ve occasionally used it but I think we can make a solo toilet work. We’ve done it in apartments and hotels and the camper. In the camper we’ve been more often in the wilderness,   I’ve just gone outside with Madigan if she was holds things up inside . Older I don’t seem to have the capacity to hold it like I did younger.

Kenny showed us the Tiffin and it really was luxurious but I just felt it was too great a challenge for me to drive. I liked the slightly shorter Thor and felt I could maneuver it more safely with garter confidence .

All the way to Harrison’s Hot Springs. I was talking to Laura about it. All the pros and cons. I’ve been thinking of a bus since I was in the south this last winter and wanting to have one for next winter’s snow bird month.  As well I’d like to be able to just pick up and go camping in the summer with Laura. With the fifth wheel there’s the whole hitch and hydraulics and slides . The Hurricane only has one slide. With the camper there’s the loading and unloading and the happy jacks. It’s an hour to pick it up in the truck and an hour to leave it at the storage each trip. With the bus, like my sailboat, I can be heading out in a half hour . Peter told me that’s how long it takes him and Larry to come and go.

I phoned Anil Auluck, my accountant to run it by him. I’d already talked weeks back to my wise friend, George. He’d just bought himself a new Buick and when I saw him last at Burnaby men’s he’d said, “so did you buy it”.  I’d discussed deisel versus gas with him and Kenny and Peter. Peter’s Tiffin came with choice of gas or diesel, the diesel more expensive . “Ive never regretted getting gas.”  Peter said.  George thought the diesel lasts longer but said as Kenny said,   I wouldn’t be putting the hours on the engine in a motorhome that a truck or commercial vehicle .  Longevity doesn’t count when you’ re not putting on the miles. The Class A diesel pushers are clearly the best especially new as they hold their value but the fact for me is I’m older and am only planning to motorhome the next 10 years. .  I see myself continuing to work virtually for 5 to 10 years but after that I don’t know. My Dad lived to 94.  Mom and he enjoyed their motorhome until mid 80’s when his eyes and energy gave out.  So I think the gas is fine for me.

Actually I liked everything about the Thor Hurricane just as Ernest and Nicolina did. . Kevin Oh at TD gave me really useful information about financing because I didn’t want to face unnecessary loss taking out RRSP”s or mutual funds and such. I have the money in the bank but there’s good and better ways to take it out without penalty or the rapacious government wanting more .   Both he and Anil and Kenny all ex;planned how I could do it wisely.  I put $2000 down and now will be talking on Monday with Kenny moving forward.  I will have a test drive next Friday.

Again I love Traveland.  I also like that I’m  blessed to know all these wonderful people I  trust and can rely on for good advice.  I tell them if they have a head wound or develop schizophrenia I’d be there for them too. .

I thought about Thor god of the Vikings and the idea of Hurricane. I’d not only survived three days of hurricane solo sailing the pacific in winter I’d been truly exhilarated going through the eye of the storm and coming out the other side.  Hurricane is a positive memory for me though I have to admit it was some of the most terrifying days and nights of my life. It taught me ‘surrender’ as I could only trust in God and hold on.  I did that.  Here I am again trusting in God.  I’m glad Laura loves it too.

Madigan was being a real brat barking outrageously  when I wouldn’t let him come inside and jump all over the furniture.  He didn’t understand there would be time for that only after the sale was closed. I have no doubt he’ll love it .  He likes  where he gets to be with me and Laura.

Now we’re at Harrison Hot Springs Rsort . I’ve been in the mineral springs and we’ve walked Madigan around the duck pond.  God is good all of the time.   Thy will be done. Thank you Jesus.!
