Thor Motorhome, Canadian Election, Retina specialists

It’s a sunny blue sky day with pink cherry blossoms petals littering the ground.  Lovely Burnaby spring.
Carney, the WEF, UN, CCP candidate has won the Canadian election for another liberal term continuing policies he and Trudeau began.  I feel betrayed by my countryman.  After Trudeau’s corruption and scandals and deceit it’s hard to believe anyone could vote for more. But people were attracted to the new face and the appearance of fiscal responsibility in a banker who unfortunately believes in unscientific net zero and the whole communist idealism thing with liberal elites benefitting most while the middle class is savage.
Marx said there was rich and poor. The Scottish socialists by contrast envision the middle class.  The middle class of which I’m apart are being skewered by taxes while the elite, white collar welfare, and the welfare class (blue collar welfare)
The elections as a deep disappointment and it has caused me to doubt the veracity of the election machine. The communist Chinese computers can breach election machines as easily as they breach CRA firewalls . Trudeau allowed interference in the last election if not encouraging it. It’s been exposed and propaganda agents like the CBC admittedly 80% liberal don’t seem to care. The election is already rigged to eastern Canada with Montreal and Toronto making all the decisions.  I fear worse tyranny.  The immigrants especially the illegal immigrants were scab voters. It doesn’t matter how much is exposed like Chinese students voting, the government winning isn’t concerned.  I’m just very disheartened. They say you can vote yourself into communism but you have to fight yourself out.  Carney has as much said he’d rather an alliance with China than with Trump and that certainly doesn’t forebode well for peace.  WWWiii seems closer but one day at a time. Doom zooming is the problem in politics and Carney got in with that messaging.  Poilevre’s message of prosperity and freedom didn’t fly in Canada. Makes me wonder if I’m safe here.
Meanwhile the great news is that I traded in my Fuzion Fifth Wheel toy hauler for this Thor Hurricane Class A Motorhome from Traveland. 2022 and 20, 000 km.  The bank took the outstanding mortgage on the RV and rolled it into a new load which is good but it’s higher interests.  One of the reasons I didn’t like the liberals.  High costs, high taxes, inflation and shortage of health care resources and little pension.  Yet here i am now in a wonderful moving home.  I’m truly delighted with my new accommodation and was excited to drive it home .
I liked Laura being with me and seeing the motorcyclists pass us asked if she missed the years she rode on the back of my Harley and we stayed in pup tents. “No she said, I like that then but I love this now.”  They call it ‘glamming’.   I wanted it for my snow birding winter trip south but we’re looking forward to going up the Whistler RV park in the summer.
We had a lovely weekend at Harrison Hotsprings and now with this motorhome will be able to go there as we did with the camper and truck.
I really didn’t want to be transferring my home and storing so I could use the camper and truck. Now I have everything I need here. For now I’m keeping the Truck and Camper for camping, hunting and fishing but am also considering trading in my mini for a little Ford Maverick truck. The Mini Cooper can’t be hauled behind a motorhome without a trailer while a little truck can and I can also take the Vespa or Harley in the back of the truck.
Right now I’m continuing to enjoy the Vespa, lighter and easier in the city.  My Harley Nightster Special is in storage but I’m missing it.
I had my appointment with Dr Bryon McKay, the retinal ophthalmologists. He’s as a very impressive young doctor like Dr. Rob Pintwala, the ophthalmologist,  who referred me. I’m got milde cataracts and stage 2 dry macular degeneration.  Just as Dr. Pintwala said I i should be able to ride a motorcycle for the next 10 years. I was being optimistic and thinking positively when I committed to the new motorhome.  I have a follow up apt in November and hopefully there won’t be progression but eve nit there was need for surgery it wouldn’t be till next year.
Another reason I want the country and politics to improve so that I’ll continue to be able to see. I’m feeling dependent on my fellow man . Though I’ve always been I’m with age more aware of my sense of dependence.
I’m working and the office, the passenger seat of the motor home with the desk accessory is calling.
Madigan has been a terrific guy now. When Laura is here he’s in lust mode and acts like a sex crazed adolescent.  He loves her and we have a wonderful time together but he certainly isn’t well behaved around her but settles when she leave.  He’s aging and each time it’s better.  So many changes for the little guy.  I really like his company.
I’ve called this letting go time the ‘potlach’ because I purge so much to reduce my excess to the smaller cargo space of this motorhome.  Still too much went to storage. I was glad to give a whole lot away and thankfull for the help of Alina and Ileana from Merry Maids and Anna and Kevin Bustard.  Laura has been great.  Ironically we first were intimate over 25 years ago after we packed up an office and loaded my sailboat for my offshore sail to Hawaii solo in winter and the work in Saipan.  25 years ago. I have been blessed. Gifts of sobriety. Gifts of God.
Thank you Jesus.

March Spring Rains

Spring rains persist. Regular downpours and cloudy days. I am missing the sun and dessert but actually rather content to be home
The Merry Maids came today. They did a fabulous job despite Madigan supervising them with barks and growers. I took him to Macdonald’s for a burger. It allowed them into my garage office. I’d spent this weekend cleaning it up and surprisingly it just needed sorting rather than a storage locker run. I did get rid of another bag for the Diabetes foundation. Returning I was delighted by the order and cleanliness of the place.

I’ve been looking at Thor Class A motorhomes.  Ernest and Nicolina showed me there’s and I’m so impressed. It’s not as big at Peter and Larry’s Tiffany.  It about 32 feet I think, Thor Hurricane with one slide. That’s had me looking at motorhomess.  I’m seeing lots of second hand range I could afford and am sure I ‘need’ one this year.  This fifth wheel is really terrific but big and I don’t want to learn the driving skills to haul it. I’ve used tow trucks but the costs have increased.  Besides after a couple of months down south with my camper I’ve decided I’d like to be mobile. If I can’t haul this because back up into things with trailers I can get a bus and haul my mini.  I will have to find a way to put the Vespa on board though an electric bicycle will do fine.
I have an ophthalmology apt so will know if I’m likely to be driving for the next decade or so to justify getting another vehicle. I’m reminded how sad Dad was when his eyes tight went. I’m already going dreaf and am getting by in situations where I couldn’t before with the expensive hearing aids. I’m hoping this cyborg tendency will continue with the eyes and maybe better glasses will solve the problem Though it may be cataracts and more anxiety. I ‘m such a wooz when it comes to myself.  I muddle through with no choice but all I do is pray. Prayer is all I can do.
Madigan is being pretty good.  Growls at me with wagging tail.  Ripped up my new linen sheet when Laura came but really was a gentleman in church.  He was wearing his new rain coat but doesn’t like me putting it on.
I can’t get over how much I’m liking my home again.  I’ve completely cleaned out the mouse dropping problem. It wasn’t as bad this year as when I’ve returned previous years. I got rid of any invitations and put out mouse replellants and traps though I caught none.

There’s an election in April. I’ve given money to the Federal Conservative Party, Pierre Poilevre and our local Burnaby PC candidate.

I contacted the CMDA and asked to pay my annual dues. When they contacted me I was away so now I’ve money in the bank and time to address this. The only outstanding membership I think now is the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine. My ISAM membership is on automatic pay. All the other memberships I believe are paid. I just seem to have been deluged since returning March 1.

It’s hard to believe how much I’ve done in 3 weeks.  A whole lot of patient calls, getting my home back, taking my camper in, and all the forms for Anil to do taxes and a weekend with Laura and Madigan getting groomed.  It’s been exhausting but now that it’s letting up I’m really pleased. This is the second Merry Maid visit and it’s just a joy to have the clean place and great smell of incense. I’ve also organized my clothing though I have more to take away.  I’ve been paid too so it’s been good to have the steady flow of work and money to maintain this all.

Also I’m really thankful for the upcoming election.  I’ve been so disheartened by Trudeau and then Carney was worse, elite communist globalist taxaholics.  I don’t like the Sharia innvsaion and the anti Christian anti Jewish attacks.  I’m concerned about aging.

I really enjoyed Bruce Coburn.  This week, Friday, after the ophthalmologist , we have tickets to the VSO and Chopin.

Thank you God for all your blessings. Thank you for the rain that so helps the plants and trees and flowers. Thanks you for cleaning ladies. Thanks you for Kevin who will fix the camper with the insurance folk.  Thank for Kelvin who keeps this unit function and will replace the toilet in the camper before I take it to Nappeanee after the first week of May. It’s only a month and some away.  Amazing. I’ve a tight schedule with the IDAA  Spokane conference in July and international AA convention here in July.

I enjoyed going to St. Barnabus Church with Madigan who was a perfect gentleman

I loved getting steaks and pork chops and sausages for Laura and me for her visit .  When she’s here next time I’ll have to order chinese or me and Ed’s’ pizza.

I bought a bread maker and had to make three loaves before I got it right. The yeast was the issue.  All three tasted great but the third one rose and looked like a good loaf.

I’ve made a couple of pounds of roast Ethiopian beans in the roaster. I had a lot of green beans so great to get them roasted. I’ve really enjoyed the taste.

I’ve written a couple of chapters on my Addiction book. Must continue.

I’ve walked Madigan three or four times a day. Away I was able to make 10,000 steps but back I’ve been doing 4000 steps. On the weekend we had a River walked.  Great blue heron sighting. One by the little river rapids and another standing on a blank overlooking the river. I ‘ve fasted a couple of days since return. I am overweight and must lose weight if only to ease the back pain.

I am reading King Authro series , Bernard Cornwell. Enemy of God. Last year I enjoyed his Stonehenge book. I completed the Oxford course , Archeology Prehistory, Ritual and Religion.  I actually got 10 CAT points thanks to Adell and Aim.  I was overwhelmed with court work in the course despite my trying to clear the scheduled . I plan to do another course next year on mysticism and spirituality.  I’ve no time this year but I love the learning. I’ve got the course load for the CME with IDAA and I want to do the Pacific psychopharmacology course that’s held in November. I’ve a CME Doctors of BC speciality meeting and with my mentoring I’m definitely sufficiently active despite my age. I’m doing elational work for George with the Wednesday group so not isolateing.

I really am blessed and thankful. God is good all the time. Thank you Jesus.

Alice Lake Campground

Thanks to Kevin (adventurerrvcenter@yahoo.ca), Thaun Vo of Rand and Fowler Insurance, Kelvin  at Travco RV and Merry Maids of Burnaby, my Adventurer Truck Camper is back. Two years ago I hit a boulder on the West Harrison road causing structural damage that Kevin restored to new. Kevin rescued us after a year of gaslighting by the dealer.  Despite working in jails I still am not immune to sociopaths.  Thank God for Kevin and Thaun, men of character, honest business men.  Once they were involved everything went smoothly.
Kelvin from Travco fixed my pipes and furnace last year and was kind enough to come by and fix the drawers and windows in my camper .  Finally Merry Maids detailed the whole inside delighting Laura when she arrived for our inaugural camping weekend.  “It’’s better than new, “ she said.
We didn’t know exactly when we’d be able to leave till this week so didn’t have reservations. Since Covid ,campsites are premium. When we picked up the camper last week in Chilliwack at AdventurerRV Centre, we took it back to the city, where Merry Maids had at her.
Each day Laura and I texted each other, ‘just three more days’. “ Just two more days.”  “Just one.”  Madigan was ecstatic to see Laura at our door 9 am  this morning   I’d loaded the truck and we just had to  head out.  I was sorry to leave my new HD Nightster Motorcycle. I have yet to test the truck hitch carrier with the new motorcycle. We have the quad in the country on a trailer for another trip. This weekend was just for enjoying the return of the camper. And we are.
“I want to go north to Pemberton.” I told Laura this morning.”  I’ve not been on the sea to sky since before Covid,” It was raining and ugly but the view of the sea was still spectacular.  Passing Porteau Cove I remembered all the wreck scuba diving I enjoyed there.  Then we were passing Britannica Beach where the mine is. “We stopped here a whole lot for best burgers and fries,” Laura said.  Then we were at Squamish.
“I’ve loved riding the motorcycle here and stopping for coffee at Starbucks.” I said.
“That was so much fun, “ she agreed.
Then we saw the sign for Alice Lake Campground.  “We can try,” I said.
“We don’t have reservations. Any spots available.” I asked the young man at the booth.
“You’re in luck. I have one”. He said. “I think too you might be a senior so are entitled to a discount.’  (I don’t think I look old but I’ll identify as old if it means saving money.)
Now we’re here. We even have electricity. I was glad to have filled the water tank before we left.  In the past we’ve gone three days easily.  We’re really quite spoiled.
The provincial park site is terrific. A large private lot with wide spaces between campsites.  What a marvellous provincial campground.  He  warned us about bears and not leaving out food.  Dogs have to be on a leash but we just love the fresh air, the quiet and that the rain stopped once we stopped.

This is bliss.  Laura has made Black Forest ham sandwiches with the fresh lite rye bread.   I made stove top expresso and am  comfortable now  writing a blog entry before my plan to walk Madigan around the neighbourhood.  There are mosquitos but they’re staying outside the screen door.  Laura having chucked the paper plates has settled down with a magazine.

“We don’t have wife or cell service,” she said.  “It’s the first time in forever I’ve been so disconnected.’
“I know. I forgot my satellite phone but rather like that I’m disconnected.  The world can get by without us for a day or two.  I’m beginning to feel so relaxed,” I said.
Madigan meanwhile is still a Duracell bunny as the humans are really settling into this camping life.

‘I may have to make another coffee.’ I thought «  Maybe a walk first. »

My cellphone rang to our surprise.  Kevin and Anna and the kids were driving by on the highway on their way to camping in Pemberton.   Great talking with them and hearing about our mutual friends  Elizabeth and Phil in Newfoundland.    We may follow them up to Pemberton tomorrow as we’ve only this site overnight. This can only be booked 1 day at a time and the rest of the campground is full.  The air here is glorious.
